International Physical Theatre Laboratory, USA

Par : NIPAI
29 mai 2024 à 18:43

13-22 July 2024 | Laubegg Castle, Austria

For performers and actors, dance and movement practitioners, professional artists and educators, theatre directors and stage professionals, as well as performing arts academics and students.

What is an International Physical Theatre Laboratory (IPTL)?

An International Physical Theatre Laboratory (IPTL) is a collaborative space focused on exploring and innovating in physical theatre. It includes a three-day IUGTE conference. Unlike workshops and trainings, which focus on teaching and refining specific skills, a laboratory emphasizes collective experimentation and the development of new artistic methods over a longer period. The IUGTE conference within the laboratory brings together performing arts practitioners to share experiences, ideas, and networks, enhancing creative exploration and fostering professional connections.

What is the curriculum?

The IPTL's program encompasses a wide range of activities designed to enhance the skills of performers in expressing themselves through bodily movement rather than traditional dialogue-based storytelling. The curriculum includes an intensive workshop based on the Ostrenko brothers approach, which focuses on physical improvisation, and the creation of physical narratives through movement, theatre biomechanics, and physical action.  The IUGTE Conference programs include master classes, intensive training sessions, lectures, demonstrations, and performances focusing on dance, theatre, music, opera and performing arts. You can learn about the speakers at the conference by following this link.

Where will the laboratory take place?

The International Physical Theatre Laboratory (IPTL) will take place at Laubegg Castle in Austria, set amidst a serene landscape of forests, cornfields, and deer. Morning sessions are conducted outdoors, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the natural environment and draw inspiration from the sounds and sights of nature. 2024 Open Call for Residency Artists, USA

28 mai 2024 à 18:30

<Art Like Salt> 2024 Open Call for Residency Artists

Taepyung Salt Farm X ROWILAB seeks artists to submit entries for the juried exhibition, ‘Art Like Salt.’ The winners will be chosen to participate in a residency program in Shinan, designated a ‘Slow City’, in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, with the opportunity to create work in any of the following formats; photography, video, installation, sculpture, or sound with the theme of ‘Human, All Too Human'.

2024 Theme :  Human, All Too Human

The days when people accepted 'born and die' as their fate are behind us. Science has created many options for making, maintaining, and ending life, and accordingly, life has sometimes become a matter of choice and judgment. We are all standing on the road not yet taken.

History tells us, where there is human desire, there is progress in science and technology. Technology cannot be developed and survived by technology alone. Technology that goes beyond human limits is growing in the human mind. The question is can we humans control our desires and can we agree on a criteria for control.

At this point in time, we have the ability to manipulate and choose the direction of our lives in ways we have never been able to before. What we need now is understand the fundamental question, ‘what is life?'. We must talk again about how we define what we have thus far referred to as nature or providence so that philosophy and art can continue the most human history.

The HMS Visiting Artists Fellowship will provide an endowment of $6,000 to one selected artist per year and facilitate exhibition and mentoring opportunities for this Visiting Artist. Selected artists will be responsible for fulfilling the following obligations:

·       Selected artists must make a lecture presentation/workshop for a student group and solo exhibition at the HMS Fine Art Gallery. Additional funds of $1,000 for the facilitation of the presentation and transportation costs for the gallery exhibition will be provided.

From no dedicated public parking at the previous RPD station to approximately 50 public spaces, the Public Safety Center is designed to ease public access. Once inside, community members will be greeted by a large lobby, a public meeting space, and improved victim reporting areas.

Other notable features include:

Call for Artists: Beyond the Box Mural Art Program, USA

Under this Call for Artists (“CFA”), the Library, Arts & Culture Department (“Library”) of the City of Glendale (“City”)— on behalf of the City’s Arts & Culture Commission (“ACC”)— is accepting proposals from qualified candidates who would like to participate in its’ Beyond the Box – Utility Box Art Program (“Program”).  A successful applicant will be required to adhere to the Program requirements set forth herein below.

This project is open to all local and regional artists. The ACC encourages applications from both new and established artists. Glendale artists may be given preference if all else is equal. Artists may apply as an individual artist or as a group. For group submissions, a signed Release of Liability and Indemnity Agreement for each participating artist must be included in addition to the application form and design template. Group submissions may be for a single utility box or multiple utility boxes. No more than three submissions per individual or group. City of Glendale employees are not eligible to apply.

The Library and the ACC have designed a program to support public art programs and to enhance the community and neighborhoods through the use of art. The Beyond the Box – Utility Box Art Program enhances the aesthetics of the city, promotes civic pride, increases pedestrian traffic and extends public art to new areas and unexpected places while creating an attractive environment and allowing art to be introduced to the public in a creative and inventive way. The program goal is to bring beauty to unexpected places such as public infrastructure and utility boxes.

This Call For Artists is for a Beyond The Box – Utility Box Art Program art painting event that will take place from October 14 - 20, 2024 with selected utility boxes throughout various locations in Glendale.

The theme of this year’s Beyond the Box – Utility Box Art Program is Art & Science Collide in celebration of Glendale Library, Arts & Culture’s participation in PST ART: Art & Science Collide, which is the Getty Foundation’s Southern California regional arts and culture initiative returning in September 2024. This year’s theme, Art & Science Collide, will create opportunities for civic dialogue around some of the most urgent problems of our time by exploring past and present connections between art and science. Applicants are highly encouraged to visit the PST ART: Art & Science Collide website at https://pst.art/en/about to gain inspiration for submissions and proposals.

The ACC would like to encourage artists and community members to create art in the City to beautify the streetscape by incorporating the theme as inspiration for proposal submissions. Artists are not required, but highly encouraged to incorporate volunteers into the art process. Artists may create a template or outline to help volunteers paint the art, or propose another concept for involving volunteers in the art process.

Artists will be required to prime paint their specific utility box. Artists may begin prime painting the utility boxes on Monday, October 14, 2024, and must begin painting utility boxes no later than Friday, October 18, 2024. Painting and application of the final protective coating must be completed by Sunday, October 20, 2024.

The ACC will fund $1,000.00 per utility box, inclusive of all artist’s fees, paints and materials. The ACC anticipates selecting artwork for up to fifteen (15) utility boxes. The utility boxes may maintain the integrity of the artwork for a period of 1 year (or when the City, in its sole discretion, deems appropriate to remove or re-paint the utility box).
