Royal Photographic Society’s International Photographic Exhibition 166

Entries are now open for the International Photography Exhibition 166 (IPE 166).

Eligibility: Photographers and image-makers, of all ages, can submit their work to the RPS International Photography Exhibition. Submissions are encouraged from new, emerging and established photographers worldwide.

What you get: A prize fund will be awarded to standout entrants, including an Under 30s Award, and selected photographers will also be featured in the award-winning RPS Journal.

Fee: One free entry is available to all entrants, then for four as a series of work or a set of single images £18 - £30. Reduced entry is available for groups of 10+.

Beyond the Substrate: Hand Papermaking Seminar for Print Curators

Dieu Donné is pleased to announce an open call for a four-day, hands-on workshop and seminar in hand papermaking in fine art for early- to mid-career curators and specialists in the field of prints and drawings. The goal of the seminar is to empower curators and print specialists to better understand papermaking as a medium, artworks on and off paper, and the relationship of papermaking to printmaking and drawing. Workshop Dates will take place between February 3-6, 2025. This workshop is made possible with support from Getty through The Paper Project initiative.

Eligibility: Ideal participants include emerging to mid-career curators, with up to 20 years of experience, whose curatorial focuses are in print, drawing, or other related paper-based artworks. Dieu Donné will also consider applications from other kinds of print and drawing specialists, including independent researchers, conservators, doctoral candidates, post-docs, and other arts professionals. Affiliation with a museum or institution is preferred but not required. U.S.-based and international applicants are both encouraged to apply.

What you get: The seminar will include a hands-on papermaking workshop, demonstrations of Eastern and Western techniques, lectures on the history and contemporary practice of papermaking, close study of handmade paper artworks, and visits to collaborative print/paper studios and museums with major collections of paper works in New York City. Through gaining hands-on experience with a range of papermaking techniques, participants will unlock a deeper understanding of paper artworks and the artmaking process.

Commission for Large Scale Murals in Australia: Artist fee ranging from $36,250-$41,250

Call out for artists: four large-scale mural opportunities in Regional NSW, across the Murray River Council footprint. This project presents the opportunity to create iconic artwork that articulates and contributes to the region’s unique identity. Designed to be high quality and engaging the completed artworks will draw visitors to these regional towns, showcase their natural and historical assets, and become iconic landmarks that are celebrated by each community, placing River Country on the map for visitors near and far.

Eligibility: Mural artists with experience working on large-scale murals. Artists from across Australia and beyond are welcome to apply.

What you get: Artists will be paid a fee (range $36,250-$41,250) for their design and time, FORM will cover material, equipment, and travel costs.

The Cass Art Prize 2024

The Cass Art Prize 2024 presented by The Cass Group, aims to champion contemporary art from across the UK and Ireland, with a £10,000 cash prize and a free stand at The Other Art Fair in spring 2025 awarded to the overall winner of the competition. There are additional prizes worth £5,000 including a Student Award, an Art Educators Award and more! Plus a prestigious group exhibition at Copeland Gallery, London in November 2024.

Eligibility: The prize is open to artists of all abilities based in the UK & the Republic of Ireland aged 18+. Accepting all forms of 2D & 3D artworks made using analogue materials. Not accepting photography, videography, sound art, architectural designs, NFTs, fully digital and AI artworks. Artworks must have been created since 1st March 2021. Artworks which have previously won prizes or awards may not be submitted. Artists can enter up to 3 artworks.

What you get: The main winner will receive £10,000 cash plus a stand at Saatchi Art's The Other Art Fair in spring 2025. Works will be judged by a respected panel of guest judges with extensive knowledge and experience across the art industry, and selected artists will be invited to take part in a group exhibition in London in November 2024. There are additional prizes worth £5,000 including a Students Award and an Art Educators Award, plus a Development Award from the Contemporary Art Academy and more!

Fee: £10 for 1 entry, £16 for 2 entries or £22 for 3 entries. Students and Art Educators get £2 off these fees

NEAC Artist Scholarships 2024-25: £5K Available for Early Career Artists in Great Britain

Early-career artists working in figurative painting, drawing, or original printmaking are invited to apply for the NEAC Artist Scholarships 2024-25 worth over £5,000. The successful applicants will benefit from a scholarship prize (first prize: £5,000 and two runners-up receive £250 each) to support artistic development, as well as the opportunity to attend classes and develop mentoring relationships with the talented members of the NEAC.

Eligibility: Early-career artists working in figurative painting, drawing, or original printmaking. ‘Early-career artists’ include anyone who feels they are at the beginning stages of their professional artistic career as long as they are 18+ and living in GB.

What you get: As well as the monetary awards (1 x £5,000 and 2 x £250), NEAC Scholars can attend the NEAC Education Programme's workshops for free and are encouraged to develop mentoring relationships with the talented members of the NEAC.

The Cavendish Arts Science Fellowship at Girton College, Cambridge

The Fellowship supports the Cavendish Arts Science ethos of experimenting, decentring and re-imagining. It is designed for artists to develop thought-provoking ideas through engagement with physicists and those in other fields, and to experiment with new approaches to their practice that are transformative and push boundaries. We are seeking adventurous artists who explore alternative ways of knowing the world, and who work with communities that are not privileged in the mainstream. The fellowship offers opportunities for playful experimentation, and the space to re-imagine beyond conventional artistic and scientific boundaries.

Eligibility: Any artist can apply for the Fellowship regardless of medium or practice, nationality, or country of residence, as long as the artist is out of full-time education by the start of the Fellowship, over the age of 18, and willing to travel to Cambridge. Artists with no previous experience of working with scientists or in a scientific environment are particularly encouraged to apply.

What you get: The Fellowship is financially supported; A stipend of 10,000 GBP(£) will be paid to the successful candidate. This amount includes all taxes and is a contribution towards the artist's living costs and expenses. Rent-free accommodation and meals will be provided at Girton College during the residency period in Cambridge. A travel budget of up to GBP 3,000 (depending on where the artist is based) will be made available to support the cost of travel to/from Cambridge. The production budget of GBP 10,000 will be made available to support the development of new work arising from the Fellowship.

Apply for a Funded Residency with Delfina Foundation in Winter 2025

An international open call for Delfina Foundation's upcoming winter 2025 residency season (6 January – 30 March) under its recurring thematic program science_technology_society. We are looking for artists, curators, researchers, technologists, activists, writers, and thinkers who seek to explore how emergent technologies affect our understanding of mental well-being, and who are interested in probing the potential for intersecting art, science, and technology to reimagine mental health support, justice, and pride.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to practitioners from around the world as well as across the UK. This season will support a minimum of eight practitioners, whose practices have already engaged with aspects of art, science, technology, and mental wellbeing, and who make strong proposals for how they will use this opportunity to explore ideas within the stated theme.

What you get: The selected international candidates will be offered a fully-funded three-month residency at Delfina Foundation in central London, including visas, flights, accommodation, local travel cards, stipends, and materials allowances. Applicants based in the UK will be considered for non-residential participation in the program and will be paid a fixed fee of £3000 for their involvement, plus reimbursements for pre-agreed travel costs required for their participation.

The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers: Graduate Prize for Printmakers

The Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) is offering a student membership of two years plus £1000 from the Gwen May Trust to eight recent printmaking graduates. Membership to the society includes the opportunity to participate in RE exhibitions for two years both nationally and internationally. Any printmaking graduate who has graduated between 2020 and 2023 can apply, there are two winners from each year.

Eligibility: The award is open to anyone who has studied printmaking on an undergraduate or postgraduate course (textile submissions are not eligible). All applicants must submit the requested documents of 6x images, PDF of image details and CV to be considered.

What you get: This is a cash prize of £1000 per winner. The prize also includes a two-year student membership to The Royal Society of Painter Printmakers. Membership in the society includes the opportunity to participate in RE exhibitions for two years both nationally and internationally.

DOOR Residency 2024: Seeking Performance and Movement-based Artists

Over a span of a 2-month residency, selected performers will embark on an artist development program encompassing conceptual exploration, research, skill development, collaboration, and production of new artistic work. Through group and individual workshops with academics, curators, and artists, the participants merge theory with practice, culminating in substantive archival documentation made in collaboration with sound design and videography mentors - converging into the production of tangible artistic outputs.

Eligibility: Participants must be at least 18 years of age and be a legal EU resident - outside of the Netherlands. For this residency, in particular, we are looking for performers with a conceptual and movement-based practice. We are interested in participants whose work has been developed within notions that relate to the curatorial theme, or that can serve as a base to delve into the latter, compellingly and critically.

In line with South Asian Heritage Month's theme this year 'Free to Be Me' we are curating a month-long exhibition at Swiss Cottage Gallery commissioned by Camden Council's Culture Team. We invite all South Asian LGBTQIA+ Artists & Designers to share their work in response to creating 'home' through a Queer and South Asian lens.

The Hopper Prize Artist Grants

The Hopper Prize is accepting submissions for $3,500 and $1,000 artist grants. They will be providing 6 grants totaling $11,000 USD. 2 artists will each receive $3,500 and 4 artists will each receive $1,000. This is an international open call.

Eligibility: All media is eligible. Submissions will be juried by curators from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City and North Carolina Museum of Art. Additional exposure is available via a 30 artist shortlist, online journal publication, & Instagram features currently reaching an audience over 115k. visual artists age 18 and older

What you get: 2 artists will each receive $3,500 and 4 artists will each receive $1,000.

Working Assumptions Project Grants: $10K Available

Working Assumptions' grants are intended to support projects that inspire audiences to think anew about the relationship between photography and family, in the most expansive and inventive ways possible.

Eligibility: This opportunity is for individual artists and/or collaborations, researchers, academics, journalists, educators, therapists, social workers, and creatives across disciplines with a focus on photography and family. Applicants should have a prior track record of exploring themes around family. Must be a resident or citizen of the United States, have a U.S. tax ID number, and have a U.S. bank account. Must be at least 18 years old. Applicants cannot have been employees, grant recipients, or vendors within the last two years.

What you get: We are offering six $10K grants with collaborative goal setting, quarterly check-ins, and tailored support based on project needs. Individuals will also receive support for the promotion of projects

Gdansk Dance Festival: The Solo Dance Contest 2024

The Contest will take place during the 16th Gdansk Dance Festival from the 26th to 30th of August 2024. Only autonomous solos that premiered/will premiere between January 1, 2023, and May 03, 2024, or will be shown for the first time during the contest can be submitted to the competition. The required length of the solo is between 5 and 20 minutes. The competition aims to support dancers and to promote broadly understood contemporary dance (contemporary dance / contemporary ballet).

Eligibility: All the professional dancers (with documented artistic activities or/and diploma in higher education in the field of dance), who are at least 18 years old.

What you get: The Prize pool is 6000 EUR total, 5500 EUR will be divided by the jury between the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes and 500 EUR will be awarded as the Audience Prize.

LSS 2024: Living (in) Repairs: Educational Program in Belgium for Young Creatives

The Living Summer School (LSS) is a yearly week-long educational program promoting social and territorial innovation in and around the city of Kortrijk, Flanders. Young creatives, designers, and entrepreneurs collaborate with a network of local partners and experts. Together, they envision social impact concepts and design prototypes addressing relevant local territorial challenges. Within a week the participants create innovative prototypes, service blueprints, and concrete social interventions.

Eligibility: Applicants must be younger than 30 years old at the time of the application. We welcome applications from all levels of professional and academic experience and any field of study (architecture, art, urban planning, biology, sociology, engineering, environmental studies etc.)

What you get: All participants will be housed in DOK 27, a scout's housing next to the lake of Harelbeke. The LSS will provide financial assistance for travel to and from the summer school. We will cover all food and beverages for the entire duration of the summer school. Rental bicycles will be provided for each participant for the entire duration of the summer school.

Home/Land: Open Call for artists based in Worthing/Sussex

The Socially Engaged Art Salon [SEAS CIC] invites artists to submit artworks that delve into the multifaceted themes of home, refugees, migration, displacement, and diasporic sensibilities. In an era marked by global movement and shifting identities, we seek creative expressions that reflect on the experiences of those uprooted from their homes, whether by choice or necessity.

Eligibility: The call is open and free to anybody [18+] who is a Worthing / Sussex resident. We encourage professional and amateur artists from working-class backgrounds, such as refugees, migrants, BPOC, LGBTQ+, artists with disabilities and artists from working-class backgrounds, to submit work.

What you get: Exhibition opportunity. The exhibition is part of Worthing Festival & Refugee Week [11 - 23 June 2024]. If the SEAS funding application is successful, up to five refugee artists will receive £50 in honorarium for their contribution.

What you get: We are an arts journal that publishes an annual physical magazine and can also be read online for free. In our efforts to keep this publication accessible, we do not ask our applicants to pay a fee to submit their work. We seek to publish and promote the work of artists who write. Dartford Borough Council is inviting expressions of interest from experienced artists, for the creation of a tribute to Len Goodman, professional ballroom dancer, dance teacher, dance competition adjudicator, Lecturer, and Examiner. This commission represents an opportunity for an artist to create an engaging artwork, which recognizes and celebrates the achievements of Len and his loyalty to Dartford.

This work will be permanent, and it is expected that the artwork will have a lifespan of at least 25 years.

Apply for Platform Asia & East Street Arts’s Residency in Taipei

In partnership with Artist-in-Residence Taipei and East Street Arts, we welcome applications from artists based in the UK for a six-week residency in Treasure Hill Artist Village, Taipei, between August and September 2024. We will support one artist to visit Taipei to research and develop new projects. Young Fresh Different: Call for Artists based in Florida State, $300USD honorarium available

Zilberman is thrilled to announce an Open Call for Young Fresh Different: Miami Edition, in collaboration with Fountainhead Arts. Young Fresh Different (YFD) aims to provide a platform for young artists and foster dialogues between them and the gallery. Originating in 2009 as a means of connecting with young artists in Turkey, YFD has since evolved into an annual group exhibition curated by an independent jury. As Zilberman continues to evolve, so does YFD, expanding its reach with the addition of the Florida and Berlin editions.

Eligibility: Artists living in Florida State, under 35 years of age

What you get: Young Fresh Different Miami, in partnership with Fountainhead Arts, offers emerging artists in Florida a unique opportunity to showcase their work. Cambridge Artworks invites artists of all disciplines to apply for the 2024 Caravanserai Summer Residencies, which are located in our bright blue bespoke caravan studio that sits adjacent to our main building in central Cambridge.

What you get: The Caravanserai Summer Residencies offer selected artists an opportunity to concentrate exclusively on their practice and take time out from usual routines for experimentation, critical thinking, and the development of new work within the context of a vibrant artists' studio community. Each residency will be up to 3 weeks long, starting in May and running through September 2024. Please note that accommodation and living expenses throughout the residency are NOT provided.

Made in the Middle: Craftspace Call for East and West Midlands-based Artists

We invite artists based in the East and West Midlands to apply for our open call to feature in our exhibition Made in the Middle which will highlight the wide range of innovative and excellent contemporary crafts being made in the Midlands today.

Eligibility: Artists living and/or working in the West Midlands Metropolitan Districts, or Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire or Warwickshire or the East Midlands including Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland. Those working in a craft medium such as: ceramics, textiles, jewellery, metalwork, paper, mixed media, furniture, glass, leather, automata, lighting, calligraphy, recycled or natural materials, digital and multi-disciplinary work are also invited to apply.

What you get: Artists chosen to be part of the exhibition will receive £100 free; a curator visit to discuss your work; invitations to attend development, advice, and networking sessions; the chance to invite curators and buyers to see your work; and being featured in both a printed catalogue and on the Craftspace website. Exhibiting artists can also choose if their work is for sale or not.

Our Planet Pop-Up Museum: Call for Expressions of Interest

The University of Cambridge Museums are inviting applications from creatives to create a touring Pop-Up Museum in 2024 inspired by the theme: Our Planet. The Pop-Up Museum will engage a diverse range of audiences and take the Museums and their collections out into the community. It should be interactive, allowing visitors to handle objects and take part in activities. It will travel to community settings across the city and region in August-October 2024, promoting the UCM. The organisation will deliver the equivalent of 10 full days with a minimum of 50 hours of face-to-face delivery.

Eligibility: We are open to submissions from creatives working in collaboration with other artists/ agencies/ groups with relevant experience. At UCM, we pledge to champion equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility and welcome applications from all backgrounds.

What you get: We will be inviting short expressions of interest until 9 am on 19th April 2024. Following this process, we will shortlist up to three successful applications to progress to the next stage. Each application will receive a fee of £1,000 for this stage where they will be required to attend a two-hour workshop with UCM staff to further discuss themes and objects, and develop a small project plan (including a provisional budget) before presenting their final idea to a panel. Fee Up to £7,700. Autograph, London Calls for Proposals for Public Programmes to do with Climate Justice

Are you a creative practitioner or collective looking to take up space, share and inspire conversation, or build creativity and connection? We’re inviting artists, producers, performers, musicians, curators to suggest, shape and host a public programme event to take place either in our gallery in Hackney or via our online platforms. We will consider submissions for events on all manner of creative issues so long as it speaks to the theme. This might include – but certainly isn’t limited to - launch events, spoken word or performance, in-conversation and Q&A events or creative workshops.

Eligibility: The open call is intended to support emerging cultural producers who are working on a new or early stage project. Applicants can be of any age. We understand ‘emerging’ to cover people across a spectrum of experience, which includes those who have not developed an event of any kind before. The selection process will prioritise emerging practitioners above more established practitioners.

What you get: The successful applicant will receive a £600 budget as well as a £400 curatorial fee. The selected event proposal will take place in either June or July 2024. Autograph’s experienced staff will also work with you to: develop the event concept, produce and deliver the event, access Autograph’s building and resources, write engaging event copy to be shared on our website and social media channels, market your event successfully to Autograph’s audiences and the wider public.

Apply for The Drawing Year, a 1 year full-scholarship programme for artists who want to focus on drawing from observation.

The Drawing Year is a full-scholarship postgraduate-level course run by the Royal Drawing School in Shoreditch, London. The course offers up to thirty students the opportunity to focus on drawing from observation for one year. There are no tuition fees and all students receive a free studio space.

Every course offered at the School is taught at postgraduate-level by a distinguished faculty of over 75 practicing artists. Students have three end of year exhibitions and international residency and teaching opportunities after graduation.

Alumni Commission Award 2024: Calling Goldsmiths’ Art Graduates from 2019-2023

The Exhibitions Hub is pleased to launch its third Alumni Commission Award, in partnership with the Live Art Development Agency (LADA) and Forma. Following a 6-month period of research and development at LADA's archive, the selected artist will develop new performance work to be presented during an evening at Forma in November. The outcome is intentionally open to allow for creative experimentation and engagement approaches.

Eligibility: Goldsmiths Department of Art Alumni who graduated between 2019-2023.

What you get: The selected artist will receive:£1500 artist fee, £500 production budget, and a £500 presentation budget. Additionally, Members of staff from LADA and Forma will provide individual mentorships to guide and support the successful artist during the development of the project. (3x1HR sessions from each organisation). LADA’s team all specialise in varying areas of live art, so mentors can be selected to align with the successful artist’s project. Curator of the Exhibitions Hub: Fran Painter-Fleming, and Director of the Exhibitions Hub: Nick Grimmer will also be providing mentorship throughout the commission.

Flowing Streams: Residency in Romania Researching the Cultural Ecology of Water

Flowing Streams is a program of 7 artist residencies in rural Romania. Practitioners from Czech Republic, Poland, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Germany and Romania get a chance to be one of the 7 residencies researching the cultural ecology of water in some beautiful and secluded places from Romania's rural landscape.

What you get: The residency covers travel costs from the applicant’s country of residence, accommodation within the premises of the host organisation and some meals, a fee of 700 EUR and a 300 EUR production budget. The programme encourages and assists the insertion of the artist into the everyday life of the village. The host organisation will provide mediation and knowledge of the local context, connect the resident with the local community, document the process of the residency and share available resources for research. Communal meals will be organised on occasion. Depending on each host organisation, means of transportation can be put at disposal (bicycle, car, or information to public transportation).

Apply for Fernland Studios Artist Residencies, Ecological Arts Grants, and Writing Retreats

Fernland Studios is an experimental ecological arts studio offering rest, rejuvenation, and reciprocity. We provide Black, Indigenous, and all people of colour artist residencies, ecological arts funding, and writing retreats at no cost to them and with additional funding to support their practice. Remote artist residencies run June 20 to August 1. Ecological Arts Funding is a small grant for cultural producers to propose programs. Our Writing Retreat is in-person from July 22-27 at Salishan Coastal Lodge.

Eligibility: Selection is based on the proposed work’s connection to Fernland Studios’ mission, vision, and values. Participants must be 18+, and all participants working and living across the United States/Turtle Island in 2024 are eligible, while prioritizing participants in the Pacific Northwest.

Our Place on Earth: Residency with Wonderseekers, £10K Fee Available

The opportunity is open to individual artists and/or artists collective/ groups. They will work with the Wonderseekers team to design, plan, and facilitate a series of creative workshops to guide children, including our Young Design Panel through this process over the 9-month development phase. They will encourage children to express themselves through art, capturing their creative and imaginative responses to local environmental themes.

What you get: There is a fixed fee of £10,000 for the 9-month project. £1,000 of the fee will be paid within the first month of the project to cover the costs of initial expenses. The remainder of the fee will be paid in three equal payments of £3,000 at the end of each quarter (July, October, January).
