Présentation

Reconnue d’utilité publique, la Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson a pour vocation de préserver et de transmettre l’œuvre d’Henri Cartier-Bresson et de Martine Franck. Elle conserve l’ensemble des tirages, négatifs, planches contacts et documents légués par les deux photographes.

Créée en 2025, la Bourse de recherche curatoriale Martine Franck a pour objectif d’aider des chercheur·ses et curateur·rices à développer un projet de recherche et d’exposition sur l’œuvre de Martine Franck et/ou d’Henri Cartier-Bresson à partir des archives de la Fondation.

Attribuée tous les deux ans, la Bourse de recherche offre au·à la lauréat·e issu·e d’une nouvelle génération internationale de chercheur·ses des conditions privilégiées pour mener son travail et contribue à renouveler les approches curatoriales sur l’œuvre des deux photographes en encourageant les regards inédits et contemporains.

La Bourse de recherche curatoriale Martine Franck bénéficie du soutien de la Fondation d’entreprise Linklaters.

Créée selon la volonté d’Henri Cartier-Bresson, de son épouse Martine Franck et de leur fille Mélanie, la Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson a ouvert ses portes en mai 2003. Elle conserve aujourd’hui les fonds d’Henri Cartier-Bresson et de Martine Franck. Fondation privée reconnue d’utilité publique, elle est aujourd’hui l’un des hauts lieux parisiens de la photographie.

Modalités de candidature

FONCTIONNEMENT ET DOTATION
Sélectionné·e sur dossier de candidature par un jury composé de cinq professionnel·les des mondes de la recherche et du commissariat d’exposition, le·la lauréat·e de la Bourse de recherche curatoriale Martine Franck reçoit une dotation de 7 000 € pour la recherche, le commissariat d’une exposition à la Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson et la réalisation d’un ouvrage.

Le·la lauréat·e bénéficie d’un accès facilité aux archives de la Fondation, d’un accompagnement dans ses recherches et d’un mentorat pour le commissariat de l’exposition.

À l’issue de l’année de recherche, l’exposition conçue par le·la lauréat·e est présentée au public à la Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson dans l’espace appelé « Le Tube » (80 m2). La publication qui l’accompagne est réalisée en collaboration avec une maison d’édition.

La dotation couvre le travail de recherche et de commissariat, la production de contenus pour l’exposition et pour l’ouvrage, la supervision de la réalisation de l’ouvrage ainsi que les éventuels frais de déplacement et de logement engagés par le·la lauréat·e.

La Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson prend à sa charge les frais de production de l’exposition et, en collaboration avec une maison d’édition, les frais de publication du catalogue.

DOSSIER DE CANDIDATURE

• Les dossiers de candidatures sont à transmettre en ligne uniquement via le formulaire dédié. Aucun dossier papier ne sera accepté.
• Aucun dossier incomplet ne sera pris en compte. Les candidat·e·s doivent s’assurer d’avoir joint toutes les pièces demandées à leur dossier : ils·elles ne seront pas alerté·e·s d’éventuelles pièces manquantes.
• L’ensemble des éléments du dossier de candidature doit être rédigé en français ou en anglais. Tout document dans une autre langue devra être traduit.
• L’envoi d’un dossier de candidature implique l’acceptation sans réserve par les candidat·e·s de toutes les conditions énoncées dans le présent document.

Les dossiers de candidature doivent impérativement comprendre tous les éléments suivants, rassemblés dans un seul PDF (10 Mo maximum) :

• Une note d’intention d’une page présentant le projet de recherche et d’exposition (3 000 signes maximum)
• Une lettre de recommandation d’une page (3 000 signes maximum) signée par un·e professionnel·le de la recherche ou du commissariat d’exposition
• Un CV détaillé mettant en avant l’expérience du·de la candidat·e en matière de recherche et de commissariat d’exposition
• Une preuve d’affiliation à un cursus diplômant ou un diplôme dans le domaine de la recherche ou de l’exposition
• Un exemple de texte sur la photographie ou sur le travail d’un·e photographe rédigé par le·la candidat·e et publié dans un livre, une revue, un magazine ou en ligne
