ABOUT STRATA GALLERY
Strata Gallery was founded in 2021 as a non-profit membership gallery that seeks to showcase the work of internationally established artists whose development has typically followed trajectories tangential to prevalent avant-garde trends. It also showcases the work of promising Emerging Artists who otherwise struggle for gallery exposure, as their work is also at variance with those same trends. To some degree the example of these Established Artists validates the promise of those who are still emergent, and the gallery encourages loose creative partnerships between these two groups. Strata Gallery avoids favoring any distinct style and promotes a range of authentic individual expression embodying diverse material practices, imagery, style, and ethos. Strata Gallery is located in the historic Santa Fe Plaza at 125 Lincoln Ave, Suite 111, Santa Fe, NM 87501.

COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY
Strata Gallery was established as a membership gallery with the primary goal of creating a space for our artists to showcase their work, as well as to create a dialogue between our Established and Emerging artists. Strata Gallery strives to cultivate a membership that reflects the diversity of the community we live in. Held Together: Fragility & Endurance in Art, Virtual Exhibition & Print Catalog, USA

23 janvier 2025 à 00:41

Held Together delves into the intricate interplay between fragility and endurance, exploring how moments of vulnerability can coexist with remarkable strength. It invites viewers to reflect on fragility in its many forms—personal, societal, and environmental—and consider how instability, loss, and uncertainty shape the human experience.

For this exhibition, we’re seeking work that examines how artists navigate the delicate tensions in their lives and the world around them, confronting themes of impermanence, resilience, and repair. We welcome both literal and abstract interpretations of fragility and endurance.

By examining the spaces where things come undone and are rebuilt, Held Together is a testament to the beauty and complexity of resilience in a world that is both precarious and full of possibility.

Eligibility: Artists of all backgrounds, disciplines, and experience levels are invited to submit their work for consideration. Must be 18+ to submit.

We accept all 2D & 3D mediums, including painting, drawing, photography, digital, prints, fiber art, collage, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, and installation art. We do not accept film or video at this time.

Magazine & Catalogue Feature:

This exhibition will be featured in our quarterly print magazine, New Visionary. Additionally, a print catalog will be available, showcasing all the artists included in the exhibition.

NYC4PA Call for Entry STREET PHOTOGRAPHY, USA

Vivian Maier, an unknown, left behind a treasure of Street Photography she took while walking outside on time off. Discovered after her death, they have been featured at museums around the world, most recently Photografiska in New York. Cartier-Bresson, Frank, Meyerowitz, Arbus, all were known as accomplished street photographers and the list goes on.

Street photography, as an art form, captures a special essence of life, not posed, not set up, but there in the streets, yards, avenues, etc. we pass every day.The challenge is composing those photographs that set them apart from snapshots. Take your camera or phone outside with you and capture the odd juxtaposition of a passerby and a window decoration, a special look, a split-second moment of communication, a scene that conveys a message or feeling.  The examples are too numerous and varied to list.  All 2D photography is welcome.

Unframed, USA

Par : De Structura
30 décembre 2024 à 22:06

Unframed is a cross-disciplinary exhibition project that intertwines contemporary art with augmented reality (AR). Set across five European countries—Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Italy, and Romania—and potentially reaching farther, the project challenges conventional modes of interaction between audiences and societal processes, using AR to transform static artworks into dynamic portals of dialogue and discovery.

At its core, Unframed invites emerging artists to interpret topics like climate action, digital rights, food security, deforestation, coastal vegetation, queer culture, and others that are covered by European politics. These interpretations take the form of ten unique exisitng artworks (we are not commissioning you to make new work), that will be displayed through AR, enabling audiences to interact with the works using their smartphones or tablets. This immersive experience is designed to make policy tangible, offering new ways for viewers—especially younger generations—to engage with ongoing societal processes.

The addition of a physical installation that will support the digital experience–Reality Array modules–aims to improve the project’s accessibility and further our environmental efforts. This modular exhibition system, made from recycled plastic, replaces single-use AR markers with adaptable, transportable structures. This approach opens the exhibition to diverse spatial configurations, ranging from gallery settings to public spaces. Reality Array is inspired by modules designed by Luca Bilbo Rasmussen and Selma Lindhardt Blomberg for the Juxtapose Art Fair.

Architectural Imagery, USA

23 décembre 2024 à 07:12

Architectural photography: The photographing of buildings and similar structures that are aesthetically pleasing and accurate representations of their subjects.Throughout the history of photography, buildings have been highly valued photographic subjects, mirroring society's appreciation for architecture and its cultural significance. As building designs changed and broke with traditional forms, architectural photography also evolved. During the early-to-mid-20th century, architectural photography became more creative as photographers used lines and bold shadows in their compositions, and experimented with other techniques, resulting in architectural photography being viewed as more of an art form.

A building designed with a large shading roof under which there are two distinct spaces: one space for the bodily needs: eating; sleeping; washing, and a stove for the cold desert nights, and a second space for work: for writing; painting; drawing; studying, a space for the first materializations of new ideas.
