Fotonica 2024

Con installazioni, performance audio-video live, musica elettronica, video mapping, workshop, residenze artistiche e simposi, Fotonica si divide tra l’Accademia d’Ungheria a Roma e il quartiere Alessandrino in una location avveniristica di ultima generazione: il Chromosphere Dome, un’enorme cupola, solitamente utilizzata in campo astronomico e in particolare nei planetari, che avvolge il pubblico con suoni e immagini da ogni direzione, garantendogli una reale quanto rara esperienza immersiva a 360 gradi.

Fiore all’occhiello di FOTONICA i live audio video di otto artisti di fama internazionale aprono e chiudono il Festival: Lydia Yakonowsky (Canada), VJ Spetto (Brasile), Ployz (Germania) Monocolor (Austria), Damiano Simoncini | Levi & Cristina Angeloro (Italia) Kati Katona (Ungheria), Milian Mori (Svizzera), Touchy Toy Collective (Italia) Konx-om-Pax (Uk).

Dal 13 al 21 dicembre, tutti i giorni dalle 11 alle 17, nel Chromosphere Dome si susseguiranno le opere video dedicate a bambini e bambine. Dalle 17 in poi, l’esterno della cupola ospita i video mapping di artisti come DeRe dal Michigan e i lavori finali delle residenze artistiche e dei workshop per adulti e bambini a cura di Naba, FLxER e Fusolab, mentre all’interno della cupola, parallelamente, saranno proiettate le opere video di artisti internazionali: dal Giappone Yuri Urano e Manami Sakamoto, dalla Cina Te-Hsing Lu e Calvin Sin, dalla Polonia Ari Dykier, dalla Germania Sergey Prokofyev, dalla Grecia e dal Regno Unito Uncharted limbo Collective, e infine dalla Francia Milkorova, Sandrine Deumier, François Vautier, Flore e Sébastien Labrunie.

Fotonica ha inaugurato venerdì 13 dicembre all’Accademia d’Ungheria in Roma con Modulator V3, installazione del celebre artista ungherese Dávid Ariel Szauder, ispirata all’iconico “Light Prop for an Electric Stage” (1930) della figura di spicco della Bauhaus László Moholy-Nagy.

L’opera concepita da László Moholy-Nagy e progettata dall’architetto István Sebők era originariamente intesa come un “dispositivo sperimentale per la pittura della luce”. Attingendo al prototipo originale Szauder ha creato una performance interattiva arricchita da un’esperienza uditiva che risponde all’ambiente di luci e ombre creato dal movimento della scultura.

Il Festival ha proseguito, e prosegue ancora, tra Accademia di Ungheria e il Chromosphere Dome fino al 21 dicembre, 2024 con eventi di live performance, incontri e workshop. Consultate qui il sito per il calendario aggiornato degli eventi e per i biglietti.

Il progetto, promosso da Roma Capitale – Assessorato alla Cultura, è vincitore dell’Avviso Pubblico biennale “Culture in Movimento 2024 – 2025”, realizzato in collaborazione con SIAE e con il sostegno della Comunità Europea – Creative Europe. FOTONICA è prodotto da Flyer srl, che nel 2004 ha dato vita a LPM Live Performers Meeting, il più grande evento del settore, giunto alla sua venticinquesima edizione. Il Festival fa parte del network AVnode, una rete internazionale con oltre 60 membri che promuovono più di 200 progetti tra festival, meeting e workshop.

FILE 2025 – Open Call – Art and Technology

FILE is now accepting applications for the 2025 edition, inviting artists, creators, developers and researchers to submit their projects. This is a unique opportunity to exhibit your work in São Paulo, from July 15 to September 7, 2025, at the renowned FIESP Cultural Center.

We seek innovative and creative projects that integrate art and technology, both national and international, covering diverse areas such as installations, robotics, CGI, virtual and augmented realities, animations, mobile art, games, kinetic art, public art and much more. We value proposals that explore interaction with the public and the use of Artificial Intelligence, in various formats of artistic expression.

As a non-profit cultural organization, FILE promotes experimentation and development in the field of Art and Technology, providing a platform for artists to connect with new audiences. In this 24th edition, the festival continues its commitment to exploring the boundaries between technology and art.

You can also take advantage of the chance to participate in the FILE LED SHOW, exhibited annually at the FIESP Digital Art Gallery, or to lead a session at the FILE WORKSHOP. Sign up using the form and check the guidelines in the regulations.

MetaPan. Masterclass nel Metaverso

Tempo fa, il PAN – Palazzo delle Arti a Napoli, aveva annunciato la sua riapertura e indirizzo di programma con la sua struttura complementare nel Metaverso, il Metapan, e attraverso le progettualità di quattro artisti che rappresentano le diverse direzioni progettuali della programmazione futura, Bianco-Valente, Aureia Harvey, Chiara Passa, Quayola. Le installazioni virtuali sono accompagnate ora da una serie di lezioni per un ciclo di Masterclass aperte al pubblico (online) in corso di svolgimento da aprile a luglio 2024 con sei lezioni indirizzate a giovani laureati di diversi atenei italiani e di diversa formazione e con la partecipazione di alcuni tra i più importanti docenti ed esperti di arte e new media di rilievo nazionale ed internazionale – Francesco Spampinato, Professore di Storia dell’arte contemporanea, Università Alma Master Studiorum di Bologna; Andrea Pinotti, Professore di Estetica, Università Statale di Milano; Ruggero Eugeni, Professore di Semiotica dei media, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano; Elisabetta Modena, Ricercatrice in Storia dell’arte contemporanea, Università di Pavia.

 

Dopo aver incontrato Vincenzo Trione e Maria Grazia Mattei il 30 aprile e Francesco Spampinato il 9 maggio, il 23 maggio, ad incontrare studenti e pubblico saranno gli artisti invitati ad inaugurare lo spazio virtuale con le loro installazioni e approcci creativi, Bianco-Valente, Aureia Harvey, Chiara Passa, Quayola.

Il METAPAN è un progetto digitale – finanziato dalla Città Metropolitana di Napoli e promosso dal Comune di Napoli in partnership con MEET Digital Culture Center, il Centro Internazionale per l’Arte e la Cultura Digitale di Milano, riconosciuto nel 2023 come museo da Regione Lombardia – è curato da Maria Grazia Mattei, Fondatrice e Presidente di MEET e Valentino Catricalà, curatore d’arte contemporanea, con la supervisione tecnica dell’architetto Giuliano Bora, che ha realizzato lo spazio all’interno della piattaforma immersiva tridimensionale Spatial.io. L’iniziativa si inserisce nell’ambito del programma Napoli Contemporanea, curato da Vincenzo Trione, consigliere del Sindaco di Napoli Gaetano Manfredi per l’arte contemporanea e le attività museali.

(re)imagining Marco Polo’s journey by CIFRA & Art Night Venezia

CIFRA, a curated streaming platform for new media art, launches an open call celebrating Marco Polo’s figure and journey. Regarded as one of the pioneers in building bridges between East and West, we should not forget the influence of his travels and travelogues on the state of the world we live in, with European colonial expansion and capitalist globalization.

We are interested in new media artists’ existing works / projects.

As part of the open call, three artists will receive the CIFRA Award of 1500 EUR for producing a new work. The CIFRA Award will include three nominations: “Bridging East and West, North and South”, “New Ways of Seeing”, and “(Re)thinking the Media”.

The shortlisted works will be shown during Art Night Venezia, which will take place on 22 June 2024.

The works will be selected by a jury composed of Menene Gras Balaguer (art critic, philosopher, director of culture and exhibitions at Casa Asia), Alessandra Bergamaschi (Italian-Brazilian researcher and curator), Zairong Xiang (curator, author, art educator).

The shortlisted works will be presented during Art Night Venezia on June 22 at the Auditorium Santa Margherita, a historic 9th-century building now used as a theatre.

INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THEATER, ART AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES
“THE WONDERS OF THE POSSIBLE” Cagliari (ITALY) –XI° Edition 2024

Between NOVEMBER and DECEMBER 2024, the 11th edition of the International Festival of Theater Art and New Technologies “The Wonders of the Possible” will be held in Cagliari at the DOMOSC Space.
The LMDP Festival supports the development and experimentation of new creative, theatrical and artistic languages through new technologies, with the programming of shows, performances, installations, workshops, and conferences.

Kyber Teatro, a spin-off of L’Aquilone di Viviana, the creator and organizer of the LMDP Festival, promotes international encounters between artists, scientists and technological researchers and the contamination between the arts, offering all Italian and foreign artists and performers, including emerging and/or under-35 companies, the opportunity -to participate in the Festival by sending their project by April 2, 2024

Focus: theater and new technologies 2024-LMDP11 #Scene Immersive
Addressed to:
• Companies, Individual Artists
• Companies/Artists emerging or/and under 35.
• Companies/Non-emerging artists of all ages (we encourage applications from artists at any stage of their careers).
Maximum 3 participants per project.

• Performances of art and new technologies

Selection Process: DEADLINE APRIL 2, 2024.
Artists interested in participating in the Festival should email info@kyberteatro.it the following materials:
– Artists/Company CV;
– Location of departure of each artist and technical staff of the company;
– Presentation dossier in PDF format;
– Technical sheet;
– A selection of up to 5 photographs;
– Link to the integral audio and video material to be made available on Vimeo or Youtube;
The outcome of the evaluation will be communicated to those selected only by May 6, 2024.

Economic conditions
Open Call winners will be guaranteed full coverage of mobility costs (travel to Cagliari, food and lodging). The organizing Company will communicate to the winning artists the travel itinerary and other useful information for hospitality. In addition, a small reimbursement of expenses will be guaranteed for the presentation of No. 2 replicas of their show/performance. If possible and by prior arrangement with our technical manager, any materials required for the presentation of the performance/show/installation will also be covered.

Publication and archiving
Artists agree to provide a brief biography and synopsis of the work and agree that the material may be published on the LMDP Festival website and social media or given to the press for promotional purposes.
Permission is given for Kyber Teatro – L’Aquilone di Viviana to archive the material and make it accessible via the Festival website. All rights to the project images will remain with the artist. The Organization is also authorized to document through audio video recordings or images the unfolding of the event at every stage.

Registration to participate in FILE – International Electronic Language Festival projects in 2024 is now open. The festival seeks original works of art and educational projects (lectures and workshops) in Art and Technology, by Brazilian and international artists. Registration remains open until February 10th .

FILE is a non-profit cultural organization that has propagated creation and experimentation in Art and Technology through exhibitions, events and publications over 23 years. This call opens up the opportunity to participate in the 23rd. Edition of the International Electronic Language Festival, which is scheduled to take place at the FIESP Cultural Center, in Sao Paulo. The selected projects will also be able to collaborate in parallel events in different states in Brazil.

Using the registration form, it is possible to send proposals for interactive installations, sound art, video art, robotics, animations, CGI videos, virtual realities, augmented realities, mobile art, games, gifs, internet art, lectures and workshops, among others .
