Il Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève lancia Agora: A Gathering of Art and Philosophy, programma online interamente finanziato, ideato per affrontare le sfide del nostro tempo combinando due discipline capaci di re-immaginare il futuro in modo unico: l’arte e la filosofia. Il bando per la presentazione delle candidature è aperto fino al 1° novembre 2025.

Ideato da Andrea Bellini e Federico Campagna, Agora offrirà programmi gratuiti della durata di un semestre con lezioni in lingua inglese, seminari e mentoring individuale a un gruppo di otto artisti e filosofi attivi da gennaio ad aprile. Le lezioni saranno successivamente rese disponibili gratuitamente sulla piattaforma digitale del Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, the 5th floor, e troveranno riscontro anche sui canali digitali di Mousse Magazine, aprendo il dialogo a un pubblico più ampio.

Ogni partecipante riceverà una borsa di studio, al fine di garantire pari accesso. Tutte le lezioni si terranno online, in modo che possano partecipare studenti da tutto il mondo. Oltre alle lezioni e alle discussioni in stile seminario, gli studenti svilupperanno anche il proprio lavoro personale in incontri privati con i docenti.

“ Con Agora, il Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève introduce una nuova idea di museo come spazio pubblico: lezioni gratuite tenute da pensatori e professionisti di fama mondiale, borse di studio per gli studenti partecipanti e un colloquio di un anno con filosofi, curatori e artisti“, ha dichiarato il co-fondatore e direttore di Agora, il filosofo Federico Campagna. ”Siamo lieti di creare una nuova casa per la prossima generazione di costruttori del mondo”, ha affermato.

Tra i relatori figurano Elizabeth A. Povinelli, Franco “Bifo” Berardi, Nicolas Jaar, Jota Mombaça, Nora N. Khan, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Laura U. Marks, Hito Steyerl e John Tresch. Questi pensatori e professionisti dell’arte di fama internazionale accompagneranno gli studenti anche in seminari e sessioni individuali, incoraggiandoli a sondare le visioni del mondo contemporaneo prevalenti e a forgiare nuove vie per l’immaginazione.

Le lezioni saranno raggruppate in tre principali aree di indagine: Tecnologie della coscienza, Materialità e Immaginazione sociale. L’obiettivo di Agora è quello di combinare le indagini filosofiche con le prospettive dei gruppi emarginati, l’urgenza di sviluppare una nuova coscienza ambientale e le sfide tecniche poste dalla pratica artistica. Fortemente impegnati ad aprire il discorso artistico a visioni pluralistiche del mondo, i colloqui e i tutorial degli esperti esploreranno visioni “post-contemporanee” del futuro, un futuro in cui l’arte assume un ruolo di primo piano nel rimodellare il regno di ciò che è immaginabile, possibile o necessario.

“Il Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève è entusiasta di lanciare questo programma culturale online gratuito, che si basa sulle centinaia di video, interviste ad artisti e podcast su arte, filosofia, musica e letteratura che abbiamo già condiviso con il pubblico attraverso la nostra piattaforma digitale, il 5° piano”, afferma il direttore del Centro e co-fondatore di Agora, Andrea Bellini. “Aperto agli artisti e agli amanti dell’arte di tutto il mondo, Agora sarà un nuovo spazio vivace per immaginare, condividere e creare cultura e arte contemporanea”.

Una volta che gli studenti avranno completato il programma, l’archivio delle lezioni di Agora sarà reso disponibile al pubblico gratuitamente tramite la piattaforma digitale del Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève, il 5° piano.

L’orizzonte iniziale di Agora sarà di tre anni, con nuovi gruppi di studenti selezionati ogni inverno. Agora incoraggia i candidati con un curriculum artistico e filosofico interessante a presentare la propria candidatura al programma, in particolare quelli con una comprovata esperienza nelle arti visive, nel cinema, nella danza, nella performance art, nel teatro, nella musica, nell’architettura e nel design o con un’esperienza di ricerca in filosofia. Le candidature saranno valutate sulla base dei lavori precedenti del candidato e della lettera di motivazione. Non sono richiesti titoli accademici.

I partecipanti selezionati saranno annunciati a metà dicembre 2025, con lezioni e tutorial che si terranno dall’inizio di gennaio alla metà di aprile 2026.

L’acqua e la vita sono intimamente connesse sulla Terra. I mari e gli oceani sono stati elementi di divisione e separazione geografica. Allo stesso tempo, hanno collegato culturalmente e storicamente persone e culture. Oggi, le tecnologie di rete collegano culture e persone, ma per secoli le rotte marittime e le imbarcazioni hanno rappresentato la rete di collegamento a più lungo raggio.
Dal 2018, il progetto “Dialogues across the Seas” ha esplorato i cambiamenti radicasubiti dai nostri mari molto diversi in diversi angoli del pianeta e come essi manifestino molte somiglianze inquietanti che finiscono per collegarci tutti. Per mappare queste connessioni, abbiamo utilizzato una serie di interventi di ricerca tangibili (installazioni artistiche, conferenze e pubblicazioni) all’incrocio tra arte e scienza. Il denominatore comune di questi interventi è l’acqua, l’oceano e il mare intesi in senso lato, e le popolazioni di esseri umani e non umani collegate attraverso la loro fluidità e che vivono in loro prossimità.
Il nostro prossimo intervento sarà una serie di pubblicazioni tematiche cartacee/digitali. Il nostro obiettivo è quello di mettere in discussione le prospettive monolitiche/monotematiche/omogenee sul mare, sull’oceano e sull’acqua.
